As if I wasn’t freaking out enough

Newspaper training begins tomorrow. I am trying to remain calm, but it isn’t easy when I keep having nightmares.

In my dream last night, I dreamed that it was time to head to the newsroom for training. For some reason I couldn’t take my car to the newsroom but had to ride a bike. And then I had to ride it through some kind of treacherous booby-trapped path. Think the stones from Mario games that fell as soon as you stepped on them. I also had to ride across a few mossy tree trunks and down an avalanche chute full of boulders.

I was already running ridiculously late when I came across some kind of demon chipmunk. I really like chipmunks so I’m kind of sad that I dreamed up an evil one. This chipmunk attacked me.

I finally made it to a paved road only to discover that it was snowing. The ground was also all wet and covered in puddles and a semi-truck drove by and splashed me. Then a second one did the same thing.

I didn’t actually get far enough into the dream to make it to the newsroom. Luckily, I woke up for real after the second splashing and decided it wasn’t safe to go back to sleep.

I don’t think I’ll be getting much sleep tonight, but I doubt that training tomorrow can be as disastrous as I dreamed. That gives me some form of comfort I guess.

  • That sounds like pretty good preparation for the job ahead of you.

I had a dream about shopping in a weird mall where all the lights were off. I was trying to find a dress, but the only ones I liked were in stores for children or teens and I felt too old to shop there. It was also very hard to see in the dark, and there was this obnoxious rock song playing over and over from the speaker system. I still had the song in my head when I woke up, and I was very disappointed after Googling it that apparently my own head made it up.

  • No. 1 in a long ensuing line of Evergreen editor dreams. Good luck.
