Fall Evergreen training begins in a week and needless to say, I’m starting to feel a bit panicked. I’ve found that just being in the newsroom helps calm me down, even if I don’t do any real work. So I headed to the newsroom today.
Quick tangent – On the way into the newsroom a man in a car stopped and asked me for directions to Crimson and Grey. We were by The Bookie at the time. I wanted to tell him that he just found the worst person in the world to get directions from, but I did my best to help him instead. Hopefully he won’t get too lost, but I definitely don’t know street names so I had to try to use landmarks.
When I finally made it to the newsroom, I didn’t really feel like working on much. Though I’m panicked about how quickly summer is drawing to an end, it’s hard to make myself sit down to work when I know I still have a week left. So I compromised by doing something I needed to do, but that I enjoy more than preparing for training week.
I cleaned my office. It still seems strange to think of it as my office. I found stuff from Brian, Lisa, Jacob, and even Joe, but mostly Brian. Now I have my stuff in there and it’s weird. Hopefully I’ll be used to it by next Monday. The before and after photos are below.

I’m glad the lightsaber is still a newsroom fixture.
Don’t panic. You will be a fantastic editor. The Evergreen will surely go well under your leadership.

I know you go through slinkies like kleenex, but is that one of the ones you lost at some point?
