My own Alive! day

I haven’t posted as much this week because with the return of warmer weather Ferdinand’s has gotten busier. This means I am more tired at the end of the day and don’t feel like coming into the newsroom. Friday was particularly busy because it was another Alive! day.

All the kids and their parents got me thinking about the Alive! session I came to the summer before my freshman year. You can read about it below.

My father accompanied me and became friends with an Irishman and fellow father in attendance. The two of them spent the three days on campus annoying and making fun of the other fathers. My father said they were all “granola munchers.” The two of them stayed up late being loud and would glare at everyone through breakfast. When parents asked questions like, “But, who will do my child’s laundry? They’ve never done it themselves …” my father would laugh at them.

Overall, I would say he enjoyed the experience. He has plans to meet up with the Irishman again at my graduation. I told him that was fine as long as they behaved.

I don’t remember much about my own experience except being bored and rolling my eyes a lot. I also remember being forced to learn the fight song and being told it would be okay if I failed. That makes the eye rolling make more sense.
